Our Classes

Learn With the Experts

With over 30 years of teaching and 25 years as business owners, we’ve discovered the recipe for success. In our classes we balance hard work with strong relationships among students, classmates, and teachers. This is the key to personal growth.

Our Former students continue to be part of our lives, forming lasting bonds. At HORIZON Language School, we’re not just an institution, we’re a close-knit family. We provide constant support, ensuring students always have someone by their side.

JUNIOR CLASSES

In our junior classes the students learn how to read, speak, and write.  Starting from the alphabet and vowels they continue to learn articles, singular and plural form of nouns, correct spelling, vocabulary, and pronunciation.  By the time our students finish A-JUNIOR they know how to create sentences using the present continuous, modal verbs, how to correctly use the verb be and how to use some and any in a sentence. They can also write sentences in the affirmative, interrogative, and negative form.  They enter the classroom not knowing a word of English and by the end of the school year they are able to understand and communicate in English.

Our B-JUNIOR class continues to enhance their grammar skills as well as reading comprehension skills.  By reading interesting stories on a range of topics that grab the pupilโ€™s attention, they expand their vocabulary and speaking skills.  With interactive learning they start to grasp a better understanding of the language without even realizing it with just three hours a week.

SENIOR CLASSES

In our senior classes students start to feel even more comfortable with the language.  Their writing skills have already greatly improved as they are able to write letters, stories, essays and even reports.  At this point the pupilsโ€™ communication skills have progressed and they are now able to speak in English with greater ease.  Engaging in class discussions, ONLY IN ENGLISH, helps them not only with their oral skills but with their listening skills as well. We encourage critical thinking and embrace their mistakes by helping every student improve their weaknesses, whether this is in vocabulary, grammar or writing.

When they reach C-SENIOR they are introduced to the different components and demands that the first certificate B2 (lower) has.  They practice their grammar and vocabulary skills on a variety of exercises based on a range of lower exam formats. In this way, they familiarize themselves with different certificates. They now reach a point where they watch foreign movies, series, and videos and can understand the dialogues without the use of subtitles.

PRE-LOWER/LOWER/ PROFICIENCY

In our PRE-LOWER class students are ready to take on more challenges.  They may be in PRE-LOWER but they are working at a LOWER level. They use their reading comprehension skills to answer questions from passages and scientific journals in both written and verbal form. They practice their listening, writing, grammar and vocabulary skills at a LOWER level. They already feel comfortable with the language and are more than ready for the year to come.  In this way, they have less workload for the following year as they have already done most of the work the previous years.

Our LOWER and PROFICIENCY class builds on their already existing knowledge of the language.  Our LOWER class is five hours a week while our PROFICIENCY class is four hours a week, and it is completed in just one school year.  Practice tests and Mock exams are not included in the teaching hours, they are extra but without the extra cost.  We start our practice tests in October, one practice test a week. As for the mock exams we start them in November, one mock exam a month but increase it to two mock exams from January to May. We want the best results for our students and we work hard to achieve just that.

The exam that every student may be taking differs depending on the studentโ€™s ability.  We use a range of B2 and C2 exams as we take into account the pupilโ€™s capabilities.  We help them choose the most suitable exam for them in order to have the desirable results.  On the day of the exam we always escort our students and do not leave the exam center until they have finished, this includes both the written and speaking part of the examination.  We are there to support them and help them get over the anxiety that they may feel on the day of as we believe moral support is of the upmost importance.
